Thanks to a grant from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau, over ten libraries across Iowa have received bike rodeo kits assembled by Iowa Safe Routes to School. This helps bring traffic safety education to all reaches of Iowa, including more rural communities.
Two libraries that just had rodeos were Swaledale Public Library and Woodbine Carnegie Library. Between the two rodeos, over 40 kids learned about cycling safety, hand signals, and how to wear a helmet. Check this page to see which libraries host a rodeo kit. Thank you to Sherry Hopkins and Diana Lind for organizing and running the rodeo. Safe Routes to School is only successful with local champions like them helping increase access to traffic safety education.
Iowa Safe Routes to School is funded through a matching grant, help us raise our 20% of the grant right here to continue our efforts to expand active transportation opportunities across the state. Thank you.
