Gathering Momentum
This year’s summit, hosted in partnership with Community Bike Works in Allentown Pennsylvania, drew over 206 youth, staff, and volunteers from roughly 26 different bicycling-focused organizations nationwide. It was a weekend marked by extensive collaboration, open communication, and plenty of cycling. The event featured a robust program including 32 workshops spread over three days, highlighted by a major bicycle ride through Allentown joined by the city’s Mayor. Notably, 72% of participants were youth—a testament to the summit’s core mission of empowering the next generation of cyclists and advocates.
Looking Ahead
Looking forward, the organizers are excited to announce that the 2025 Youth Bike Summit will be held in Boston, Massachusetts, from May 30th to June 1st. The 2025 Youth Bike Summit partners are Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition and Bikes Not Bombs, two organizations deeply rooted into Boston, improving the quality of life for Boston’s youth. The goal is to expand partnerships with statewide bicycle organizations to ensure another successful event. This year, they were fortunate to collaborate with organizing partners like Ride Illinois and CalBike, whose support was instrumental in increasing participation across the country.
Join the Movement
As preparations begins for the next summit, all those involved in youth-bike programming, such as Safe Routes to School (SRTS), are invited to participate actively. The organizers are eager to hear insights and best practices on enhancing bicycle programming in all its facets. Whether organizations are already engaged or looking to get involved, the Youth Bike Summit promises to be a platform for learning, networking, and driving positive change.
