Cycling enthusiasts and local families gathered at Front Street Brewery yesterday for a fun educational event: the Quad Cities Bicycle Club (QCBC) Bike Rodeo. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Davenport’s scenic riverfront, the rodeo provided a mix of fun and safety education for riders of all ages. While the club often hosts rides and races, this event was particularly geared toward educating young cyclists. From obstacle courses to safety lessons, the rodeo was designed to teach participants the importance of bike safety in an engaging and hands-on way.

A Community-Centric Event

Held at the iconic Front Street Brewery, the event drew families, local cyclists, and community members. Parents watched as children navigated the rodeo course designed to test balance, agility, and handling skills. Volunteers from the QCBC guided young riders through stop-and-go exercises, signaling drills, and proper helmet usage tips.

The brewery’s open space was perfect for setting up a series of safe, controlled courses for the kids to ride through. Stations were marked with bright cones, and volunteers offered gentle guidance, ensuring everyone followed proper safety protocols while having a great time.

Not only did the kids have a blast, but there was also something for the adults. After watching their kids participate in the activities, many parents enjoyed refreshing brews from Front Street’s extensive craft beer selection. With the brewery offering specials to help fundraise for Bikes for Tykes. Trek Bicycle Davenport was on site at the rodeo tuning up bikes and making sure everyone had a safe and functional bike to participate in the rodeo. Iowa Safe Routes to School provided helmets donated by the Iowa Association for Justice to make sure no one pedaled without one.
