The Iowa Bicycle Coalition is pleased to announce that hiring of Alana Croco as Safe Routes to School Program Director. Alana graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in Sociology in December of 2011. Alana enjoys biking, swimming, and cooking.

Alana states that, “I am excited to be apart of such an exciting movement by providing educational tools to the entire state of Iowa”. In addition, she states that she’s “motivated and ready to begin”.

As the Safe Routes to school program director,  Alana will be in charge of encouraging more elementary-aged children to walk and ride bicycles to school.  Safe Routes to School programming includes promoting classroom education curriculum, community and school trainings, and encouragement events, like walking school buses.

The first event Croco will be promoting is International Bike to School Day on May 8th, 2013.  Biking to school can be fun and can also motivate healthier habits to children and their families.  This exciting day is only a couple of weeks away.
